Launch Party

Over the previous weekend my adoring fiancée threw me my first ever launch party, graciously being hosted at my parents’ home. To say I was overwhelmed with emotions is an understatement. So many of my friends and family came to show their unending support for this dream of mine.

Nothing like this have I ever experienced before. So what could someone like me expect to receive from this? Well, let me tell you…

To be clear, my fiancée coordinated 90% of the thing, while my mom confirmed our taquero for the evening. Let me say that the tacos were amazing! So juicy, so delicate, so ecstasy-pleas—you get the idea.

People came from far and wide to share that celebration with me. I couldn’t be more grateful to them spending their own hard-earned money to partake in the festivities and take time out of their busy lives. We had some fly in from Boston, drive from Arizona, and embark from Louisiana.

This launch party also marked another special form of togetherness. Up until this point in our lives, my family and Bree’s (my fiancée’s) family have never met one another before. Sure, there was a consensus between Bree and I about the nervousness we felt about it, but we honestly had nothing to worry about, as we later saw. Families and friends intertwining like if they’ve been the best of friends for many years. What a time it was.

Next, came the speech. Allow me to tell you that public speaking isn’t easy for me. The stuttering (possibly also from the booze ingested), and the constant moving of hands (like if trying to land several planes on a runway at once), existed in that period of public talking. But there also filled the speech with humor by the loved ones before me, so that made things easier for sure. It’s nice when your jokes actually get laughter.

The night came to its joyous end, and what a thrill I felt. I don’t believe there’ll be another when part two of A Story of Gylranor comes out, but know the only way to go will be up.
