Years of the Wilds (The Beginning)
Excerpts from A Short History of Gylranor by Edemard the Believer, as translated from the Cantibran tongue to the Familiar by Volress, brother and colleague to Edemard.
The Pantheon of Gylranor came to light when their maker, Inilizul the All-Essence, the Creator, the Maker, the High Crafter, formed the world of Gylranor. Inilizul needed guardians to watch over the vast multitudes of life on the world. Inilizul inhibited green valleys, pure blue waters, clear skies, sandy deserts, rolling hills, and mighty mountains. All scenery of magnificent beuaty in a world of perfection. These and other geological wonders shaped Gylranor, which is to be the Creator’s proudest achievement. The Beginning gave light…With that in mind, Inilizul forged ten sons and daughters, whom Inilizul called Primals. The Primals would form the Pantheon of Gylranor, protectors of the mortal realm. The All-Essence bound them with immortal powers and commanded to instill their powers to produce life on the infant planet. Inilizul decreed the Primals to walk and shepherd Tinith and Nindoras, the two continents of the world, separated by vast oceans…
Thus, they fluttered to the newly created world and began to unleash their power to enhance what the Creator had left for them to complete…
There was Azanelon, the First Born, god of the waters. Lord of the seas and rivers and oceans and all things water. Ruler of the Grand Blue…
Rosnios, the Grand Champion, the Protector of the Mountains. He was given the watch over the hills, the mountains, and of the countless masses within Gylranor. He gave the name, the Rosnian Mountains, after his own influence. A good son, however, he disbanded Inilizul’s Throne of the World atop the Rosnian Mountains because he thought the All-Essence should serve from a more powerful view…
Then there was Aliri, the First Daughter, the Magnificent, the Sole Beauty, the Majestic, and the Ever-loving. She is the conqueror of all that is to be loved. A great giver of kindness, of caring, of passion, of loyalty, and of all things good and beautiful.
The youngest to be known is Silorus the Naturalist, the Botanist, the Guardian of the Green, by which he is called by the mortal races of Gylranor. He is watcher to all that lives and grows by Solerel’s rays—trees, the weeds, shrubs, the moss, the leaves, and the endless planes of grass, dead or alive. Known to hide within the trees and has only ever been seen by his brothers and sisters briefly without the vines covering his face and body.
Felnult, the Dweller of the Depths and the Builder of the Timeless Chasm and Protector of the Lost Caves, is the only issue of Inilizul that keeps the Gate to the Nethermire sealed. He is the Mighty Overseer of the caves, the ravines, the earthly chambers, and the tunnels. He rarely ever walks upon the soils of Gylranor.
Uldelthien the Tamer is the only lesser god created by Inilizul, but his strength is no lesser than that of Rosnios’s. Inilzul tasked this agile god in maintaining the winds, the rain, the ground quakes, the tornadoes, hurricanes, eruptions, and all other natural causes from completely devastating Gylranor, and that each natural disaster attack Gylranor fairly. He and Azanul are the closest of brothers…
There was Talrel, the Huntress, the goddess of Wildlife, the Heroine, and tamer of the beasts and insects. Talrel is furthermore known as the Archer of Cleansing and eliminates any lesser creatures of evil if they were to escape the Nethermire…
Chelegorina, the youngest of the daughters, is known as the Darkness, the Frost, and the Cooler. She protects the beings of her Maker and sister, Talrel, of the harmful heat Solerel emits during the season of summer. Chelegorina was entrusted the Four Seasons by Inilzul on the basis that her mind was clear and without fault…
Inilizul could not always be present in the goings-on in Gylranor so for that reason they created Blinn the Watcher, the Informant, and the High Overseer. He was to constantly report to Inilizul about the daily happenings on Gylranor…
Lastly, there was Orma, the Evil, the Wretched, the Putrid, the Despised, and the Hated. Inilizul knew the world could not be perfect unless there was an antagonizing force to help thrive and strengthen it. Orma is regarded by his brothers and sisters as the only child of Inilizul that received regrettable sentiments. He is the Ruler of the Nethermire and known as the Dark Primal. Orma is the father and procreator of the Netherid and Argom races and calls Haraxas and Karxas his first sons…
The High Crafter refrained from ever creating the perfect world, even if their will desired it. To have a perfect world would mean to go against the very laws of the universe. The All-Essence therefore bore Orma, to provide a balance to Gylranor. He was insured the meager task of giving life to Argoth, of which the Argoms wer firstly created…
Orma, hated by his brothers and sisters, after unleashing his Netherids upon the godly works of the other Primals and nearly destroying Inilizul’s Throne, was forever banished to the Nethermire, never to see the light of day…
